We’ve got 2 chippies and the post office.I’m 16, I went to Brannel school and my dream job would be probably road working, building, construction, that kind of thing. I worked with my dad a couple of times and since then I liked it, to help him out and all, putting down the yellow lines, it’s fun.I had my first tattoo back in December, the second one a week later, and the other one a couple of months ago…I always wanted one, ever since I was young so I just went and got one. What I thought I’d do is that each star represents a bit of my family, that’s my mom, my dad, my granddad, my gran that died, there’s my sister and I got two space there left, I don’t know for what yet, and there’s my bike helmet and a tribal one. Unfortunately, we have a number of very important events and visits that are taking priority at the moment and I don’t think I will be able to get them to you by the end of the week even. If you are happy to just use the first three, I will attach below.” When did you started working for Imerys?- “I started working for Imerys in 1986” Where do you live in the China Clay area? – “I live near the village of Trewoon.” Do you have a particular moment that you remember in connection to the landscape in the China Clay area? Do you feel connected to this place, or would you go anywhere else to live? – “There is no particular moment that I remember, however as I have lived in the area for all of my life the china clay landscape has always been around me and I can appreciate it’s beauty. Those were manifest in the natural landscapes that were altered by the works of the extraction industry. In St. Dennis, the clay village with the most vibrant community, I met many young people, children and adolescents that grow up in this new era of transformation with the decline of the clay extraction industry. All of them are attached to the area, the land and the landscape. They interact with it daily, playing and living it. Whereas for generations they clay industry was the primary source of income for the people living here and an integrating part of their existence. Now they are faced with seeking new solutions for the development of the area. This generation will be the most affected by the uncertainty of the economic future in these communities, which could be lead to disintegration by the necessity of seeking employment elsewhere.
